Guess I need sarcasm emoticons.

But Comicon does baffle me. I'm revolted and drawn to it in equal measures.

Can we look forward to pictures and anecdotes?adam _______________________http://www.blogger.com/profile/01306399494751363973noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736680082157358728.post-57089161228424011462008-07-15T11:35:00.000-07:002008-07-15T11:35:00.000-07:00Q: What in the world is its deal?A: SWAG from geek...Q: What in the world is its deal?
A: SWAG from geeky stuff you love; listening to Joss/Kevin Smith/Tarantino/et al talk about their projects and just generally entertain you for an hour or so; seeing trailers, pilots and sometimes even full movies months before the rest of the world; random meetings and sightings of the above-named people, as well as others; potential parties with the above-named people, as well as others (if you've got friends in the right places...); and just general fun and comraderie. And this is coming from someone who, after two years, is still a little weirded out by the whole costume thing.

Q: (Did Comic-Con become) the nexus of the TV and feature universe... (because the business realized) the marketing potential of that many geeks flocking to one location?
A: That's not really a question, is it? Last year there were 120,000 people in San Diego for Comic-Con. Of course marketing takes advantage of it.

Q: Will they start holding panels for Steven King books and the latest model of the Prius?
A: I'd be shocked if there haven't been a few King-related panels in the past, and if Toyota's smart, at least advertising their cars there probably isn't a bad idea. Though they might have to hire costumed actors to hang around it if they want anyone's attention. :)Joshhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15474255760489130314noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2736680082157358728.post-59154122220565751952008-07-15T08:34:00.000-07:002008-07-15T08:34:00.000-07:00I may be outing myself as being oblivious to Comic...I may be outing myself as being oblivious to Comic-con here, but I have to ask, what in the world is it's deal?

I read the articles after-the-fact for fun info, but I have no conception of when something called Comic-con became the nexus of the TV and feature universe.

Is it just a case of the business realizing the marketing potential of that many geeks flocking to one location? Will they start holding panels for Steven King books and the latest model of the Prius?

I'm honestly curious, not just snarky. :)adam _______________________http://www.blogger.com/profile/01306399494751363973noreply@blogger.com
